The Russell V. Mack papers are comprised of correspondence, speeches, and political ephemera. Mack's speeches, which date from 1929 to the mid-1940s, are mainly original typescripts of commencment addresses, campaign speeches, eulogies, Elks Lodge addresses, Chamber of Commerce speeches, private musings, and what appear to be a few pages of a journal. Ephemera include newspaper clippings from Mack's 1956 re-election campaign, campaign flyers from Mack's opponents, Charles Savage and Troy Smith, and the original drawing for a cartoon depicting Mack as a football player, signed Bergstrom. Also included are two pamphlets: "In the hour of sorrow: Socrates on death" by Mack, and "A tribute to the flag" by Florence M. Pratt, autographed by the author and Mack. Correspondents include Monrad C. Wallgren, Governor of Washington; these few items of official correspondence include a telegram from him certifying Mack's election in 1947

This collection consists of copies of 3 letters, a news release and 46 leaves of the memoirs of Richard W. Douglas. The memoirs focus on Mr. & Mrs. Douglas' homestead on the Wahluke Slope near the Columbia River. Most of their time on the homestead was spent waiting for irrigation to be made available from a hydroelectric plant to be built at the head of the Priest Rapids on the Columbia River. The memoirs also go into detail about Mr. Douglas' career as a labor organizer and Democratic Party leader. The memoir was intended by Mr. Douglas to describe the Wahluke Slope homestead and its effect on his life. But, he has written about many events that took place while he and his wife were waiting for irrigation to their property. They include many of his political activities including managing different campaigns through the years
