8 editions published between 2013 and 2014 in English and held by 189 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"A groundbreaking work, this catalog accompanies the largest exhibition ever realized on Damien Hirst, surveying the oeuvres of the highly acclaimed British artist. Published on the occasion of Relics, Hirst's first retrospective exhibition in Doha, Qatar, this richly illustrated book offers a different perspective on the work of one of the best-known artists working today. Tracing Hirst's career from his emergence on the art scene in the Young British Artists movement to his present status as one of the most controversial and highly regarded artists of his generation, this volume offers a complete overview on his wide-ranging practice, which includes installation, painting, sculpture, and drawing and challenges the boundaries between art, science, and popular culture. The catalog gathers over one hundred works, combining historic oeuvres with more recent projects: from The Kingdom to The History of Pain, from Pharmacy to For the Love of God, to the spot, spin, and butterfly paintings. With an essay by Francesco Bonami, an interview with the artist by Nicholas Serota, director of the Tate Britain, and essays by the Qatari writer Sophia Al Maria and the Pakistani writer Mohsin Hamid, the volume offers an original point of view on Hirst's oeuvre, whose works have become collective icons of our civilization"--Amazon.com, viewed December 12, 2013

The gallery presents the twentieth century through the reinterpretation of four classic themes: the nude, landscape, still-life, and history painting. Their re-emergence in modern art as the body, the environment, the everyday, and society, is discussed in four introductory texts and through selected writings. The second half of the book is an A to Z of one hundred key artists in the Tate's international modern collection that are introduced by a team of eleven art historians."--Jacket

In 1973 Michael Craig-Martin exhibited a glass of water on a shelf, together with a printed text, and called the work An Oak Tree. As the text explained, the artist had changed the glass of water into an oak tree. More than thirty years later, Craig-Martin creates - along with screen-savers, works on LCD monitors and conventional paintings - gloriously colourful environments with blown-up outline images of domestic objects. The conceptual and the rigorously material have been central to the artist's complex development across four decades of work that is both intellectually demanding and austerely beautiful. At the same time Craig-Martin achieved an almost legendary status as a teacher at Goldsmiths, where he encouraged, among many others, Damien Hirst and Sarah Lucas. Richly illustrated with works and environments filmed in Bregenz and Dublin, as well as at notable exhibitions in England, this film profile outlines the career of one of today's most innovative and influential artists

On being an artist by Michael Craig-Martin( Book )

5 editions published in 2015 in English and held by 13 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Few living artists can claim to have had the influence of Michael Craig-Martin (born 1941). Celebrated internationally for his own art, he has also helped nurture generations of younger artists, among them Julian Opie, Damien Hirst, Sarah Lucas, Liam Gillick and Gary Hume. Often described as the godfather of the YBAs, he taught by combining personal example and individual guidance, offering students practical advice and insights gained from his own professional highs and lows. Part memoir and part instructional guide, On Being an Artist mixes reminiscence, personal philosophy, self-examination and advice for the budding artist. In a series of short episodes, Craig-Martin reflects with both wit and candor on the many ideas, events and people that have inspired and shaped him throughout his life, from his childhood in postwar America through his time as an art student at Yale in the 1960s and subsequent work as a teacher, to his international success in later years."--Publisher's description
