Annual and seasonal maps of the residual temperature in the upper waters of the western North Pacific from 1954-1974 by Warren B White( Book )

1 edition published in 1977 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Mean TS curves in the Pacific and their application to dynamic height computations by William J Emery( Book )

1 edition published in 1976 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Smoothed mean curves of temperature versus salinity are computed from all available hydrographic data for 10 deg squares in the Pacific between 20S and 40N. Together these curves provide information on the distribution of water masses. Graphs of the individual curves are presented which include the scatter of TS pairs and the standard deviation in salinity along each curve. Salinity at a temperature interval of 1 C is also given in tabular form for each curve. (Author)

Observations of thermal structure in the central Pacific by T. P Barnett( Book )

1 edition published in 1976 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The ultimate goal of this field program, called AIRPAC, in conjunction with other programs in NORPAX, is to describe and quantitatively explain the observed temporal and spatial fluctuations of the near-surface thermal field. A knowledge of why the subsurface temperature patterns change and their relation to sea surface temperature anomalies, could have a direct bearing on climate forecasts. (Author)
NORPAX ADS report number 1( Book )

1 edition published in 1977 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

During the ADS meeting of March 16, 1977 it was decided to produce a NORPAX ADS program data report for trimonthly periods roughly corresponding to seasons. This is the first issue of that data report, and contains contour maps of monthly meaned: FNWC air temperature, sea temperature, wind speed, wind direction, surface vapor pressure, and 700 mb heights; NORPAX calculated wind stress, wind stress curl, wind shear velocity cubed (U-cubed), sensible heat flux, latent heat flux; objectively analyzed TRANSPAC temperatures at discrete depths from White and Bernstein (SIO). This report also contains monthly drifter buoy displacement vectors from Kirwan (TAMU) and McNally (SIO)

Processed wind and wave measurements from Ocean Weather Station PAPA by Charles K Rutledge( Book )

2 editions published in 1973 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

As part of an investigation into the environmental conditions existing in the North Pacific Ocean, observational data collected from ships occupying Ocean Weather Station PAPA were obtained from the Canadian Atmospheric Environment Service. Wind and wave data for the fall and winter months over the period 1951 through 1971 were processed. Wind speed and wave height were examined using a computer program to construct histograms displaying data distribution a monthly basis. Data were divided into two intervals (1951 through 1961, and 1962 through 1971) to compare the two periods since their is a general belief that wind/wave severity has diminished during the past 20 years. The histograms included in the report show that maximum wind speed data and the mean wave height data as reported indicate a definite lessening in environmental severity at the location. Mean wind speed data show a similar trend, but of a much smaller extent
