The Hollywood Ten is a documentary about ten filmmakers who defied the House Committee on Un-American Activities in the fall of 1947 and were convicted of contempt of Congress and blacklisted from working in the film industry. In the summer of 1950, their appeals having been denied, the Hollywood Ten went to prison. The film was made on the eve of their imprisonment. Each of the ten men makes a short speech denouncing Senator McCarthy's methods and the blacklisting. Director John Berry and producer Paul Jarrico were also blacklisted
