Three string quartets, opus 5 by
Peter Hänsel(
)
19 editions published between 1799 and 2019 in 3 languages and held by 370 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"Contemporary critics viewed Peter Hänsel (1770-1831) as a principal representative of the "true" quartet school of Haydn and Mozart. Having studied composition with Haydn during the 1790s, Hänsel maintained a relatively conservative compositional stance throughout his career, carrying Haydn's late style well into the nineteenth century while still managing to develop his own voice. A composer of almost exclusively chamber music, his fifty-eight string quartets stand out as his most significant contributions. The opus 5 quartets in particular represent Hänsel's debt to Haydn and his mastery of the quintessential Viennese Classical idiom. This edition presents the opus 5 quartets for the first time in a modern edition, providing an important resource for Hänsel scholars and modern performers looking for new Classical-period repertory." --

Neutron stars by
Peter Hänsel(
)
10 editions published in 2007 in English and held by 40 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The book gives an extended review of theoretical and observational aspects of neutron star physics. With masses comparable to that of the Sun and radii of about ten kilometres, neutron stars are the densest stars in the Universe. This book describes all layers of neutron stars, from the surface to the core, with the emphasis on their structure and equation of state. Theories of dense matter are reviewed, and used to construct neutron star models. Hypothetical strange quark stars and possible exotic phases in neutron star cores are also discussed. Also covered are the effects of strong magnetic fields in neutron star envelopes and a comparison on neutron star models with observations
