Penelope Spheeris' Decline of Western Civilization was perceived as shocking and outrageous at the time of its original release in 1981. Parts II and III were no less extraordinary and unprecedented. Today, museums and educational institutions around the world present them as historically significant works of art. Featuring some of the most influential and innovative musicians and groups of all time--Germs, Black Flag, X, Fear, Circle Jerks, Alice Cooper, Lemmy, Poison and members of Aerosmith and KISS--these riveting, unflinching, hard-core films adeptly captured the spirit of a major cultural phenomenon. Part I documents punk rock musicians' deliberate reaction to the mass commercialism of music. Part II takes a fast-paced look at the Heavy Metal scene of the late 80's. Part III profiles hard-core gutterpunks living homeless in Los Angeles and their music

This special re-issue has been re-mixed and re-mastered, with previously unreleased tracks added. The 20-page booklet includes the lyrics, plus liner notes written by Dave Mustaine. After he left Metallica in 1983, guitarist / vocalist Dave Mustaine formed the thrash metal quartet Megadeth. They became one of the leading bands of the genre during the mid to late '80s. Each album they released went at least gold, and they continually sold out arenas across America, in addition to developing a strong following overseas. By the early '90s, they had toned their music down slightly, yet this simply increased their following until they disbanded in April 2002. This re-issue celebrates a reformed Megadeth, with the September 2004 release of a new album, titled 'The System Has Failed'
