In ancient times the Rings of Power were crafted by the Elven-smiths, and Sauron, the Dark Lord, forged the One Ring, filling it with his own power so that he could rule all others. But the One Ring was taken from him, and though he sought it throughout Middle-Earth still it remained lost to him. After many ages it fell, by chance, into the hands of the Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins. On his eleventy-first birthday, Bilbo disappeared, bequeathing to his young cousin, Frodo, the Ruling Ring, and a perilous quest: to journey across Middle-Earth, deep into the shadow of the Dark Lord and destroy the Ring by casting it into the Cracks of Doom

Paint the sky with stars : the best of Enya by Enya( Recording )

New Age diva Enya first became widely known when her 1988 album Watermark sold 4 million copies and launched the single "Orinoco Flow." Her follow-up, Shepherd Moons, was even more successful, selling over 10 million copies despite its slightly lower grade of ethereal enchantment. In 1997 she released Paint the Sky with Stars, an assortment of her best work from these two early albums plus gems from 1995's The Memory of Trees and the soundtrack to the BBC series The Celts. The most melodic and atmospheric examples of Enya's lovely Celtic-flavored songwriting shine on this disc. Those unfamiliar with the former Clannad member will find charm in such sweet lullabies as "Marble Halls" and "China Roses" while delighting in the more energetic "Book of Days," "Storms in Africa," and "Caribbean Blue." Overall, an outstanding collection from an artist who gives New Age a good name. --Karen Karleski

THE CELTS is the 1992 re-release of a 1987 album simply titled ENYA, containing 15 selections originally composed for a BBC series of the same name. Although a number of the tracks sound dated, several others, including "To Go Beyond (II)" are notable for how they locate the origins of the classic Enya sound, far removed from earlier Celtic efforts. A tidy, dreamlike piece, "Epona," is about the Horse Goddess, closely connected to Rhiannon, whose birds are said to awaken the dead. The tale of a rebellious ancient queen who poisoned herself, "Boadicea" finds Enya humming over a dark keyboard refrain

It's been five years since Enya last emerged from the studio with a new album -- a huge span in the realm of pop culture, but a mere blip in the seemingly changeless sonic universe ruled by the Irish singer. In some ways, Amaratine picks up the thread Enya left dangling with A Day Without Rain -- the misty perspectives, the cocooning vocal layers -- but she does expand the palette. For one thing, she's moved away from singing in her native Gaelic, largely concentrating on English-language material but also roving into Japanese (on the breathless "Sumiregusa") and an invented tongue she's dubbed Loxian. The three songs in the latter language -- which longtime lyricist Rona Ryan adapted from Tolkien's Elvish dialect -- are perhaps the disc's most hypnotic, in part because listeners are left with little choice but to drift along and accept Enya's vocal lines as just another instrument (albeit a gorgeous one). She makes the most of that venture on the appropriately titled "Drifting," which builds to peaks suited to a Gothic cathedral, but most intriguing is the album's overall restraint, which is particularly palpable on folk-like songs such as "It's in the Rain," a brisk tune that's reminiscent of Enya's work with Clannad all those years ago. Then again, this is Enya's world, where time melts away with the merest breath -- a source of delight, no doubt, to its many visitors
