Mrs. Herne neglects her home and children for social obligations, but when she decides to divorce her husband, she wants the children as a part of the settlement. A judge rules that he will give her the children only if she can demonstrate their love for her within a week's time. As usual, Mrs. Herne spends the week socializing, leaving the poor children alone with the maid, grieving for their father. On the seventh day, however, the maid has an accident and cannot work, forcing Mrs. Herne to care for her children alone. At first she finds the task odious, but the children win her over with their cute antics and warm affection. She is so enjoying being with them that she forgets to go to court. The clerk is sent to see why she is delayed, followed by the judge and Mr. Herne. The now-happy family is reunited, and the divorce is forgotten

Back on the road to employment, Bobby espies Milly McTavish experiencing problems with her car. He offers his expert services and proceeds to dismantle the car completely. Milly realizes she was in the wrong car because she sees her own across the street. She tells Bobby her father needs a mechanic. At his gas station, Sandy McTavish pumps very high octane gas, bootleg booze. Bobby quickly drives away Sandy's customers by serving them real gas. Representatives from the Mechanics' College offer Bobby a professorship, which he accepts
