Synopsis : En 1917, en pleine Première Guerre mondiale, dans le petit village gallois de Ffynnon Garw arrivent deux cartographes anglais, Garrad et son assistant Anson. La raison de leur venue est de déterminer si oui ou non il existe une montagne dans ce village. Après leurs mesures, les deux scientifiques déclarent qu'il ne s'agit que d'une colline, pas assez haute pour être considérée comme une montagne. Très déçus de cette mauvaise nouvelle, les habitants du village décident de retenir Garrad et Anson le plus longtemps possible, par diverses ruses, pendant que certains d'entre eux iront construire un cairn en terre au sommet de la colline afin d'atteindre le niveau officiel pour en faire une montagne
