Computational Fluid Dynamics Modeling of the Washington Shore Fish Ladder Entrance Modifications at Bonneville Dam Final Report( Book )

1 edition published in 2010 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

"The Washington Shore Fish Ladder is on the important components of the fishway system of the Second Powerhouse (PH2) at the Bonneville Project for the upstream migration of adult anadromous fish. There are two entrances adjacent to the Washington shore: north downstream entrance (NDE) and the north upstream entrance (NUE). Field observations demonstrate that the largest number of salmon and lamprey are attracted to the NDE. The entrance conditions are optimal for salmon and extremely difficult for lamprey, as entrance velocities are high (10 to 12 ft/s). Historically, fishway entrances, designed for strong-swimming salmonids, have been a primary area of difficulty for the upstream migrating lamprey/ Therefore, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) , Portland District (District), is preparing to modify the NDE to improve lamprey passage, while maintaining optimal conditions for salmonids, and has contracted INCA Engineers, Inc (INCA) to prepare a Design Documentation Report (DDR) for plans and modifications."
John Day North Ladder Physical Hydraulic Model Stydy Draft Report Volume II of II - Photos, Figures, Appendices( Book )

1 edition published in 2008 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

"There are two adult fish ladders at John Day Dam, John Day North (JDAN) and John Day South (JDAS). John Day Dam is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District (USACE). Regional priority for the improvement of adult fish passage is to modify the JDAN ladder, redesigning the ladder exit and counting station as well as other possible improvements, with the goal of improving adult fish passage. USACE recently modified the JDAS ladder exit section and considered utilizing the 2003 exit section weir design in the JDAN ladder with potential modification to include lamprey friendly features."
