Pink Floyd the wall by Alan Parker( Visual )

2 editions published between 1994 and 2005 in English and held by 210 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The story of the wall" is told simply with the music of Pink Floyd, images and natural effects. There is no conventional dialogue to progress the narrative. The story is about Pink, a rock and roll performer, who sits locked in a hotel room, somewhere in Los Angeles. Too many shows, too much dope, too much applause, a burned out case. On the TV, an all too familiar war film flickers on the screen. We shuffle time and place, reality and nightmare as we venture into Pink's painful memories, each one a "brick" in the wall he has gradually built around his feelings

The wall by Pink Floyd (Musical group)( Recording )

16 editions published between 1979 and 2012 in English and held by 27 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The Wall is less a collection of songs than a single work, which is sometimes frustrating; the plot lacks enough coherence to hold the snippets of music together. However, there are occasional flashes of brilliance on what arguably ranks as Pink Floyd's most ambitious project. Most of these come from the fully developed songs, which have become classics in their own right; 'Hey You, ' 'Mother, ' and especially 'Comfortably Numb' are subtly incredible pieces of music. Though complex, they move at a relaxed pace, allowing the listener to absorb them slowly; this kind of pacing was something Pink Floyd excelled at. Also worth noting is the 'Another Brick in the Wall/The Happiest Days of Our Lives' medley, which has become a staple of rock radio"--Genevieve Williams

Blue Danube?( Visual )

1 edition published in 2017 in English and held by 15 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The Danube is Western Europe's longest river, running nearly 2800 kilometers from the Black Forest in Germany to the Black Sea. It is the world's most international river connecting 18 countries. The Danube and its tributaries comprise a river basin that covers one-tenth of continental Europe. But with the expansion of the European Union into Eastern Europe, it's at the heart of a very modern dilemma--how to create prosperity through trade and development without destroying the environment. This Life program examines the legacies of communist rule and conflict in the region, and asks what are the consequences when more than one country shares what a river has to offer? It is the story of how the Danube has become a new battleground in the conflict between the EU's transport and agriculture lobbies, and environmentalists fighting to preserve the river's unique ecology
