John Megee (1795-1858) was born in southeastern Tennessee or upper Georgia and served in the War of 1812 (with Andrew Jackson's forces). He married Ritta White about 1820, and settled in Monroe County, Mississippi. Descendants and relatives lived in Tennessee, Mississippi, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas and elsewhere
