A love story against the background of historical events. The wars between the Turks and the Venetians culminated in the fall of Negroponte in 1476. Erisso, father of Anna, intends her to marry Calbo, a Venetian soldier. But she loves "Uberto", whom she had met in Corinth. "Uberto" turns out to have been Maometto in disguise.
