Die Bevölkerung sieht in jedem Verdächtigen den Kindesmörder, immer görsser wird die Nervosität der Polizei und sogar das organisierte Verbrechen kann wegen der zunehmenden Razzien nicht mehr seinen Geschäften nachgehen. Kurzerhand begibt sich die Unterwelt auf die Suche nach der menschlichen Bestie, die bereits ein neues Opfer gefunden hat. Fritz Lang's "M" war einer der ersten deutschen Tonfilme überhaupt und gilt heute als Langs Antwort auf den aufziehenden Nationalsozialismus am Ende der Weimarer Republik. Unvergesslich ist Peter Lorres fesselnde Darstellung des Triebtäters, der vom Täter zum Opfer wird. Für Lang und Lorre war der Film ihr Ticket nach Hollywood. (Quelle: Umschlagtext)
