One framed resolution, inscribed with elaborate calligraphy, honoring John E. Scully for his heroic service to the City of Chicago in January 1892, when he was a diver employed by the city and volunteered to break the winter ice jam that was preventing water from entering the city's only water intake crib in Lake Michigan. He later served as a Chicago alderman, ca. 1901-1909. The certificate was issued to Mr. Scully during his 81st year, in 1948, and is signed by Mayor Martin Kennelly
