To investigate how phosphorylation regulates capsid stability and core protein dynamics I have examined capsids formed by Cp183 and a phosphorylation mimic, Cp183-EEE, using trypsin digestion. By doing so I have shown that phosphorylated capsids are more stable and contained CTDs that exhibited a slower rate of exposure compared to unphosphorylated capsids. T=4 capsids contain four quasi-equivalent protein subunits, A, B, C and D, which form an icosahedral capsid with 5:3:2 rotational symmetry. Structural analysis of trypsin cleaved capsids indicated that CTDs with slow exposure belong to the A-subunits located underneath the five-fold vertices
