Time constraints in interrupt-driven programs by Richard Binder( Book )

3 editions published in 1971 in Undetermined and English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Relations are derived representing the constraints on processing time in a program with K interrupt levels. Any set of K minimum interrupt intervals and maximum processing times between interrupts which satisfy the relations will assure task completion for each level. The relations may be used to find the minimum interrupt interval which can be serviced by a given program/processor combination, or alternatively to find the maximum available processing time between interrupts at a given level. An application of the relations to a multiplexor program is given. (Author)

Multiplexing in the aloha system: menehune - keiki design considerations( Book )

1 edition published in 1969 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In September, 1968, the Information Sciences Program and the Electrical Engineering Department of the University of Hawaii began work on a research program aimed at (a) developing a system of radio-linked consoles to be integrated into the present UH time-sharing system and (b) strengthening research in information processing at the University of Hawaii through projects which will develop and use the on-line and interactive graphics features of the system. Since the primary goal of this program is to add radio links connecting various units of the University of Hawaii throughout the state to the existing UH on-line computer system, the project has been named the Additive Links on-Line Hawaii Area System - The ALOHA System. The report presents the results arrived at so far in the definition of the multiplexor (MENEHUNE) and user terminals (KEIKI) portions of the system
The Semantic Basis of Do So by Richard Binder( Book )

1 edition published in 1971 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The thesis of this paper is that the "do so" test described by Lakoff and Ross (1966) is a test of the speaker's belief system regarding the relationship of verbs to their surface subject, and that judgments of grammaticality concerning "do so" are based on the speaker's underlying semantic beliefs. ("Speaker" refers here to both speakers and hearers of English, as the context requires.) Two conclusions of the arguments presented here are: (1) "do so" always refers to at least the basic action of the verb (the conceptual elements which are always present or implied when it is used); and (2) the use of "do so" is based on the speaker's conception of the referent verb as an activity "brought about," at least in part, by the sentence subject.
