Memoirs of a Jew born in 1935 to the Strikowski family in Skępe, Poland. Pp. 11-76 relate his experiences in the Holocaust. Soon after the German occupation, his father was arrested and never seen again; he was interned, with his mother and two younger siblings, in the Strzegowo ghetto. They were later sent to the Gostynin ghetto, but escaped. His mother and brother were caught and killed; he and his sister went into hiding separately, Shavit with the Skowronski family in Gorzeszyn. After the war he and his sister lived with his aunt, first in Poland and then in the Feldafing DP camp. In 1948-49 they lived with relatives in Uruguay, and then emigrated to Israel
