Two boxes contain articles entitled Day by day with Governor Patterson, written for the Memphis Commercial appeal, 1921-1933. Correspondence primarily includes letters to his third wife, Mary Russell Patterson, and letters from Thomas S. Byrne, Catholic bishop of Nashville, and Thomas Frank Gailor, Episcopal bishop of Tennessee. Also included is a letter from Truman H. Alexander concerning the John T. Scopes trial in Dayton, Tennessee. The remaining correspondence consists of letters and telegrams of condolence sent to Mrs. Patterson after Gov. Patterson's death.
