In this volume, distinguished Chinese and Western scholars provide a detailed examination of the problems associated with China's transition to a market-oriented system. A variety of reform proposals, aimed at resolving the contradictions inherent in piecemeal reform, are discussed along with the chances for future liberalization. These clearly written and insightful essays address the roots of China's crisis. The authors focus on institutional changes necessary for a spontaneous market order and point to the close relation between economic reform and political-constitutional reform. Topics include the speed and degree of the transition, whether ownership reform must precede price reform, how inflation can be avoided, steps to depoliticize economic life, how to create an environment conducive to foreign trade and investment, and how to institute basic constitutional change and open China to the outside world. Atmospheric chemical processes : reaction of ozone with 2- and 3-carene, evolution of internal mixed combustion particles by Hui Chen( )

In this thesis, we present a complementary work conducted at ICARE-CNRS (Orléans), Part A and at Fudan University (Shanghai), Part B. Part A: 2-and 3-carene are two important biogenic volatile organic compounds present in the atmosphere. The knowledge on their degradation pathways and the corresponding products are still poor. Using complementary reaction systems-ICARE 7300 L and HELIOS 80000 L simulation chambers, vertical laminar flow reactor, their kinetic rate constants for reaction with ozone were determined. Additionally, important product formation yields, hydroxyl radical (OH), formaldehyde (HCHO) and carbon monoxide (CO) have been determined with indication to their corresponding formation routes from the ozonolysis of carene. To have a better understanding on reactions of Criegee intermediates (CIs) generated through ozonolysis in the atmosphere, a horizontal 2-stage laminar flow reactor was set up to measure the rate constants of CIs with SO2, NO2 and O3. Part B: Radiative forcing of black carbon (BC) in the atmosphere, as well as that of brown carbon (BrC), remains to be a major uncertainty in current climate models. Recent reports indicate that the absorption enhancement of BC and BrC particles is determined by evolution of morphology and mixing state during the atmospheric processing. Laboratory-generated BC-BrC mixture particles (BC-BrC) were exposed to sulfuric acid, ammonia/triethylamine, and water vapor sequentially to investigate the alternation in light absorption, morphology and mixing state during simulated atmospheric processing

This thesis is devoted to three topics in the control field, namely, exact boundary controllability, boundary stabilization and exact boundary synchronization, for hyperbolic systems of balance laws. For the exact boundary controllability part, we first improve the boundary control time for hyperbolic systems of conservation laws with general boundary conditions and show that this control time is sharp. Then for a coupled hyperbolic system with zero characteristic speed, we prove that it is impossible to achieve the corresponding exact boundary controllability even with inner couplings in the equation. However, one can stabilize the system in infinite time by means of boundary feedback laws. For the boundary stabilization part, we show how to stabilize both the nxn linear and quasilinear hyperbolic systems by means of one-sided closed-loop boundary controls. For that a backstepping method is developed. For the exact boundary synchronization part, we first recall both the exact boundary controllability and observability results for coupled systems of quasilinear wave equations. Then several kinds of exact synchronizations are introduced for a coupled system of 1-D linear and quasilinear wave equations with boundary conditions of Dirichlet type, Neumann type, coupled third type and coupled dissipative type in the framework of C2 solutions. We show that all these synchronizations can be realized by means of few boundary controls

Piper laetispicum C. DC. (Piperaceae) est une plante du milieu traditionnel chinoise particulièrement au niveau des provinces de Xiao-Chang Feng, Hu Shan-Jiao, Ye Hu-Jiao. Le Piper laetispicum C. DC (Piperaceae) est une espèce endémique montagneuse dépourvue de poils, la plante est retrouvé dans la partie sud de la Chine. En médecine traditionnelle, elle est utilisée pour soigner de nombreuses maladies par exemple, pour l'amélioration de la circulation et la réduction de la stase, la détumescence et l'aspect analgésique. La partie aérienne de Piper laetispicum (Hei Shagan en dialecte Dai) est largement utilisé chez les Dai, une des ethnies minoritaires de la Chine, pour traiter les épigastralgies et les douleurs abdominales. En effet plus d'une centaine de plantes médicinales ont été recensées dans notre groupe, mais notre attention s'est portée sur le Piper laetispicum pour ses potentielles propriétés antidépressives. Sur la base d'informations reçues auprès de praticiens, l'étude s'est portée sur l'évaluation des propriétés antidépresseurs, antinociceptifs, les effets anxiolytiques ainsi que le mécanisme d'action et l'évaluation de la toxicité préliminaire
Histone methylation and incorporation-into-nucleosome in epigenetic regulation and inheritance in Arabidopsis thaliana by Juan Gao( )

Les protéines à domaine SET sont reconnues comme ayant une activité d'histone méthyltransférase. J'ai montré que la protéine recombinante SDG25 pourrait méthyler in vitro l'histone H3 en utilisant oligonucléosomes comme un substrat. En utilisant des lignées d'insertion ADN-T, nous avons montré qu'une perte de fonction de SDG25 cause un phénotype de floraison avancée, qui est associée avec une réduction d'expression du gène répresseur de floraison FLC. Nucleosome Assembly Protein 1' (NAP1) représente le chaperon principal des histones H2A et H2B. Le génome d'Arabidopsis contient 6 gènes codant NAP1 homologues appartenant à deux groupes phylogénétiques: NAP1-sousgroupe et NRP-sousgroupe. Les deux allèles mutants triple m123-1 et m123-2 manifestent une perturbation de la transcription du génome et une hypersensibilité à UV-C d'irradiation. Par ailleurs, nous avons constaté que l'allèle Atnap1;3-2 exprime une protéine tronquée, AtNAP1;3-T, manquant de 34 acides aminées du côté C-terminale de AtNAP1;3. Nous avons montré que la production de AtNAP1;3-T conduit à une hyposensitivité à l'ABA et une diminution de la tolérance des plantes au stress saline. Ensemble de nos travaux indique que les protéines AtNAP1/NRP peuvent fonctionner comme modulateurs de la structure de la chromatine en réponse à différents stress environnementaux.La recombinaison homologue (HR) est importante pour la réparation d'ADN endommagée chez tous les eucaryotes. En utilisant des substrats HR basant sur le gène rapporteur GUS, j'ai démontré que la HR somatique est inhibée chez m123-1 et m123-2 ainsi que chez le mutant nrp1-1nrp2-1. De façon intéressante, nrp1-1nrp2-1 inhibe également l'augmentation de HR chez fas2-4, un mutant ayant la déplétion de la fonction du chaperon d'histones H3 et H4 CAF-1. Il est très tentant de spéculer que AtNAP1/NRP protéines contribue aux étapes initiales telles que la résection, l'invasion et l'extension des brins d'ADN pendant le processus HR

Electrochemical sensor as a tool for the investigation of reactive oxygen species and antioxidants by Ying Wang( Book )

The reactive oxygen species (ROS) have been suggested to play an important role in many pathological processes. A simple and sensitive electrochemical sensor for the determination of antioxidant capacity toward xOH radicals has been studied chapter 2. This work was based on the inhibition oxidation of 4-hydroxybenzoic acid (4-HBA) by the antioxidant and therefore, the antioxidants scavenging ability was correlated to the decrease of the oxidation product 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid (3,4-DHBA) peak current. In chapter 3, a sensitive H2O2 biosensor based on the direct electron transfer of cytochrome c immobilized on macroporous ordered silica foam (MOSF) was developed. The proposed biosensor exhibited fats amperometric reponse, wide linear range, low detection limit, good reproducibility and stability. Finally, we also investigated a mesoporous materials-based sensor for electrocatalytic oxidation of b-nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH), an important coenzyme involved in many metabolic processes. Due to the large surface area and electro-catalytic properties of CMM, the overpotential of the electrodes toward the oxidation of NADH in decreased by 595 mV in aqueous solution at neutral pH. The results enable NADH to be sensed at a low potential and are promising with respect to the design of dehydrogenasebased amperometric biosensors
