Virtual normality : the female gaze in the age of the internet( Book )

1 edition published in 2018 in English and held by 11 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

With the international group exhibition 'Virtual Normality - Netzkünstlerinnen 2.0' the Museum for bildende Künste Leipzig is the first museum in the German-speaking region dedicated to the female perspective in the age of digital production. Each wave of feminism and each generation brings new priorities and media and these new media open up new subjects and possibilities. The internet and social media have rekindled the debate about sexuality and identity and female net artists are responding to this debate with a hyperfeminine aesthetic that ranges from the aggressively feminine to the girlishly cute. The artists on display reflect the female perspective on sexuality, identity and femininity in the digital age. Their material is their body, reality and everyday life and their stylistic devices include humour, irony, grotesque and exaggeration. Exhibition: Museum der Bildenden Künste, Leipzig, Germany (12.01. - 08.04.2018)

Seer/believer : the mythical issue( Book )

1 edition published in 2018 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

The 51st issue is themed around the mythical, a subject that has played an important role in visual arts throughout history. The seer is a visionary, creating ways of understanding or framing things that at first appear otherworldly, impossible or irrational. Their interpretations enter our systems of belief and understanding. Who is the author: the seer who creates the stories or the believer who adopts and acts upon them? The photographer has the ability to transform and create connections through envisioning stories from ancient times to contemporary life. Through a process of endless repetition and re-interpretation it becomes a timeless given: a myth existing at the junction where fact and fiction collide. And at the end, we believe what we see, or do we?
