Raziskovali smo vpliv intenzifikacije naravnih kraških travnikov na pridelek suhe snovi, prebavljive organske snovi, neto energije za prirejo mleka ter vsebnost makro in mikro mineralnih elementov. Vse omenjene parametre smo spremljali ločeno pri deteljah, zeleh in travah. Na povečanje pridelka neto energije s povečano intenzivnostjo je vplival predvsem povečan pridelek suhe snovi in le v manjši meri razlike v kakovosti pridelka. Raziskave o vplivih postopkov pri pripravi sena na razgradljivost beljakovin in suhe snovi v vampu so bile usmerjene predvsem v proučevanje sprememb pri krmi s travinja med venenjem in sušenjem na polju ali umetnim venenjem in sušenjem v laboratorijskih sušilnikih. Hitro venenje je pomembno predvsem v prvi fazi, ko se zaradi proteolitičnega delovanja rastlinskih encimov povečuje razgradljivost beljakovin. Raziskovali smo razgradljivost beljakovin in suhe snovi ter kemično sestavo pri senu z intenzivnih in ekstenzivnih travnikov, posušenem na klasične ali sodobne načine. Analizirali smo diaminopimelno kislino, ki služi kot marker za ocenjevanje kontaminacije ostankov polprebavljene krme iz najlonskih vrečk z bakterijskimi beljakovinami. Ekonomske posledice različne intenzivnosti pridelovanja krme oziroma različnih tehnoloških postopkov smo ocenili s pomočjo simulacijskega modela za kmetije in ugotovili, da zmerna intenzifikacija travinja v kraških območjih ne prinaša ekonomskih prednosti

Leta 1983 smo zasnovali večletni gnojilni poskus po načelu naključnih blokov v štirih ponovitvah. V letu 1994 smo zbrali vzorce krme na negnojeni različici (0), različici, gnojeni s fosforjem in kalijem (PK), ter različici, gnojeni s fosforjem, kalijem in dušikom (NPK). Vzorce prve, druge in tretje košnje smo ločili na trave, metuljnice in zeli ter ločeno določali vsebnosti Ca, P, Mg, K, Na, Yn, Mn, Fe, in Cu. Glede na delež posamezne botanične skupine smo izračunali tudi vsebnosti elementov v krmi. Gnojenje je značilno vplivalo na vsebnost večine elementov v travah, metuljnicah in zeleh vseh treh košenj. Gnojenje s PK je v krmi zmanjšalo vsebnost Mg in Mn ter povečalo vsebnost P in K. Pri gnojenju z NPK v primerjavi z negnojeno različico (0) se je v krmi zmanjšala vsebnost Fe, povečala pa vsebnost P, K in Zn. Gnojenje z dušikom (NPK vs. PK) je v krmi značilno povečalo vsebnost P, Mg, Zn in Mn ter zmanjšalo vsebnost Ca. Zaporedna košnja je značilno vplivala na vsebnost vseh analiziranih elementov v krmi razen na vsebnost Cu. Pri krmi druge in tretje košnje je bila vsebnost Ca, Mg in Mn večja kot pri krmi prve košnje. Največje vsebnosti P in Zn smo ugotovili v krmi tretje košnje. Metuljnice in zeli vsebujejo v primerjavi s travami dva- do trikrat več Ca, Mg, Zn in Cu. Zaradi tega se s spreminjanjem botanične sestave travne ruše precej spreminja tudi vsebnost teh elementov v krmi. Glede na potrebe krav v laktaciji smo ugotovili izrazito pomanjkanje Na, Zn in Cu, pomanjkanje P pa le v krmi z negnojenih parcel
Ocenjevanje energijske vrednosti mrve = Estimation of energy value in hay by Drago Babnik( )

The concentration of net energy for lactation (NEL) of 100 hay samples that were collected in 1999 and 2000 was estimated by the use of in vitro method, which was based on the gas produced during the incubation of samples with rumen liquor. Values were compared to the estimates obtained by the procedures which are usual for Slovenian laboratories, i.e. on the basis of chemical composition and digestibiliyz coefficients from tables or by the use of regression equations from literature. It was established that NEL concentrations that were estimated on the basis of DLG (1982) tables deviated from in vitro estimated values for 0.22 +- 0.35 MJ kg-1 dry matter (DM). Estimates on the basis of recently published tables and equations deviated from in vitro estimated values for 0.25 +- 0.31 MJ (DLG, 1991), 0.20 +- 0.33 MJ (DLG, 1997) and 0.16 +- 0.33 MJ (GfE, 1998) kg-1 DM. The equation according to Stekar et al. (1994) deviated on average from in vitro values for 0.01 +- 0.34. Regression analysis showed that all estimates deviated systematically from in vitro estimated values. For the estimation of low quality samples from extensively managed grasslands which contain less than 5.2 MJ NEL kg-1 DM the usage of old German tables (DLG, 1982) can be recommended while for samples which contain more than 5.2 MJ NEL kg-1 DM recently published tables (DLG, 1997) and official German equations (GfE, 1998) are more suitable. For average samples from Slovenian farms the highest accuracy can be achieved by the use of the equation proposed by Stekar et al. (1994). Relatively high average individual deviations from in vitro estimated values (0.27-0.32 MJ NEL kg-1 DM) were characteristic for all estimates. Maximal individual deviations exceeded 1 MJ NEL kg-1 DM. New regression equations for estimation of metabolizable energy concentration and NEL were proposed. It was found out that by the use of new equations deviations from the in vitro estimated values can be reduced by 10 to 50 %. Unexplained deviations of about 0.2 MJ NELkg-1 DM cannot be avoided by the means of classical Weende analysis

Concentration of net energy for lactation (NEL) of 80 grass silage samples was estimated on the basis of chemical composition and in vitro method, which was based on the gas produced during the incubation of samples with rumen liquor. Values were compared to the estimates obtained by the procedures that are usual for Slovenian laboratories, i.e. on the basis of chemical composition and digestibility coefficients from tables or by the use of regression equations from literature. It was established that recently published tables and equations overestimated NEL concentration. NEL concentrations which were obtained by the use of digestibility coefficients published in DLG (1991) tables overestimated in vitro obtained values for 0.42+- 0.43 MJ, DLG (1997) tables for 0.50+- 0.36 MJ, equation according to Menke and Steingass (1987) for 0.36+- 0.42 MJ and GfE (1998) equations for 0.53+- 0.40 MJ NEL kg-1 drz matter (DM). The regression analysis showed that all estimates deviated systematically from in vitro estimated values. For the estimation of low quality samples, which contain less than 5.5 MJ NEL kg-1 DM,the usage of old German tables (DLG, 1982) can be recommended while for samples that contain more than 5.5 MJ NEL kg-1 DM recently published tables (DLG, 1997) and official German equations (GfE, 1998) are more suitable. Relatively high average individual deviations from in vitro estimated values (from 0.33 to 0.57 MJ NEL kg-1 DM) were characteristic for all estimates. Maximal individual deviation reached 1.5 MJ NEL kg-1 DM. New regression equations for estimation of metabolizable energy concentration and NEL in grass silages were proposed. It was found out that by the use of new equations deviations from the in vitro estimated values can be reduced, however, unexplained deviations of about 0.3 MJ NEL kg-1 DM cannot be avoided by the means of classical Weende analysis

Hranilno vrednost krme iz dolgoletnega gnojilnega poskusa smo ocenili na podlagi vsebnosti neto energije za laktacijo (NEL) in prebavljivosti organske snovi, izračunanih na osnovi kemične sestave in plina, ki se razvije med inkubacijo vzorcev z vampnim sokom in vitro. Primerjali smo krmo iz negnojene različice (0), različice, gnojene s fosforjem in kalijem (PK) in različice, gnojene s fosforjem, kalijem in dušikom (NPK). Skupni pridelek smo razdelili na trave, metuljnice in zeli in jih analizirali posebej. Gnojenje je le malo vplivalo na hranilno vrednost trav, metuljnic in zeli. Vsebnost neto energije za laktacijo je bila pri metuljnicah precej večja kot pri travah in zeleh: 5,95; 5,24 in 5,36 MJ na kg sušine. Zaradi razmeroma majhnih razlik v deležu metuljnic se večja vsebnost NEL v metuljnicah ni pokazala v razlikah med postopki. Gnojenje je izrazito povečalo pridelek NEL: 12000, 19500 in 34500 MJ na ha pri 0, PK in NPK postopku. Razlike med različicami so bile predvsem posledica različnih pridelkov sušine. Razlike v vsebnosti NEL so razmeroma malo prispevale k razlikam v pridelku NEL
