Two essays on a contingent valuation model by Dongil Kim( Book )

2 editions published in 2000 in English and held by 25 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The second essay introduces a new contingent valuation model, called the hypothetical contingent valuation model. The traditional contingent valuation model assumes that survey respondents will answer hypothetical valuation questions as if they are asked real questions for real commitment. However in the new model, respondents are supposed to answer hypothetical valuation questions not for real commitment, but for hypothetical commitment. The proposed model is compared with the existing re-coding methods by Champ, and Bishop (1997, 1999), Blackburn et al. (1994) and Johannesson et al. (1999) by using the experimental data by Johannesson, Liljas and Johansson (1998)
On von Neumann's hypothesis of collapse of the wave function and quantum Zeno paradox in continuous measurement by Dongil Kim( )

1 edition published in 2011 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

The experiment performed by Itano, Heinzen, Bollinger and Wineland on the quantum Zeno effect is analyzed in detail through a quantum map derived by conventional quantum mechanics based on the Schrodinger equation. The analysis shows that a slight modification of their experiment leads to a significantly different result from the one that is predicted through von Neumann's hypothesis of collapse of the wave function in the quantum measurement theory. This may offer a possibility of an experimental test of von Neumann's quantum measurement theory
