Showing an awareness of contemporary surrealism and the work of artists such as Salvador Dali and Jean Miro, Gerson's dream-like painting depicts a flat landscape under a bright blue sky, populated by numerous abstract geometric, biological, and amorphous forms. The work, which perhaps anticipated the advent of post-war modernism in western Canada, is signed in the lower right corner - Humanised Prairie. W.G. 48
