Abstract:

This historic documentary was independently produced by the Communication Foundation for Asia at a time of government-controlled media, when there was practically no local television coverage of the biggest funeral march ever held in the Philippines, and no coverage at all of the long queues of people at the wake of the assassinated Senator Benigno "Nonoy" Aquino. 11 days in August documented many of the iconic images and much of the mood of those 11 days until the August 31, 1983 funeral of Benigno Aquino, with some of the first local interviews of the bereaved Aquino family, including Cory Aquino and her children, and Ninoy's mother Doña Aurora. An NGO with no broadcast channel of its own, CFA sent out two camera teams to cover the funeral mass and follow the 11-hour funeral procession.--Container.
