Ted Binnema (Editor, Writer of introduction, Writer of added commentary), Gerhard J. Ens (Editor, Writer of introduction, Writer of added commentary), David W. Leonard (Editor), Historical Society of Alberta (Publisher)
"This book of journals follows upon and is a continuation of Hudson's Bay Company: Edmonton House Journals: Reports from the Saskatchewan District, 1821-1826, edited with an introduction by Ted Binnema and Gerhard Ens. The authors of the journals were officers of the Hudson's Bay Company, including John Rowand (c.1782-1854), George Linton (1800-1835), Richard Grant (c.1794-1862), and several unidentified clerks. The journals reveal a wealth of information about western Canada in the early nineteenth century, including the operation of the fur trade, Aboriginal cultures, and relations between different Aboriginal nations and Metis and Euro-Canadian cultures. The journals were written at Edmonton House, but the commentaries concern all the region between the Missouri and the North Saskatchewan Rivers, east to Carleton House and west to the Rocky Mountains. Virtually all Aboriginal first nations are included."-- Provided by publisher
