Abstract:

Memoirs of a Jew born in 1925 in Lyon to a family with fourteen children and of Morroccan origin. While the rest of the family was hidden by the father's employer in 1943, Librati was arrested and deported to Auschwitz via Drancy. In October 1943 he was sent to Warsaw to help clean up the ghetto. In 1944 he contracted typhus, was sent to the infirmary, and remained to work there. In July 1944 he was sent to Dachau and then to Kaufering, where he stayed until the evacuation in April 1945. He participated in a death march to Allach and was liberated by the Americans. After the war he returned to Lyon and was reunited with his family; two new siblings had been born in his absence.
