Porteur de mémoires : sur les traces de la Shoah par balles

An account of Father Desbois' travels between 2002-07 to towns and villages in Ukraine, to search for evidence of what happened there during the Shoah. Much of the information that he collected was little known previously, and what was known was not published abroad. He interviewed hundreds of inhabitants (excerpts from the interviews are dispersed throughout the book) and, based on their eyewitness accounts, found traces of mass killings of Jews by the Einsatzgruppen between 1941-44, as well as the locations of the mass graves. Pp. 15-44 describe the Catholic priest's own development to the point when he decided to become a collector of Holocaust testimonies in the territories of the former Soviet Union. Pp. 237-287 document Desbois' discoveries in the town of Busk. He found and opened 17 mass graves, where the last 1,700 Jews of the town were buried after the mass shootings.
