Floyd Dell papers, 1908-1969

Collection is almost evenly divided between correspondence and material by or about Dell. Outgoing correspondence is primarily to friends Arthur Ficke, Joseph Freeman, Fred Wieck, Upton Sinclair, Elizabeth Lancaster, and Stanley Pargellis. There are also photocopies of numerous letters to Theodore Dreiser and Genevieve Taggard. Incoming correspondents include Sherwood Anderson, Mary Austin, George Cram Cook, Margery Currey, Theodore Dreiser, Max Eastman, Arthur Ficke, Joseph Freeman, Julian Huxley, Elizabeth Lancaster, Vachel Lindsay, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Ezra Pound, Upton Sinclair, H.G. Wells, and Edmund Wilson. Among Dell's works are manuscript copies of Moon-Calf, The briary-bush, and An unmarried father; unpublished stories, plays, and fragments of novels; and printed and manuscript copies of poems and articles. There are also collections of publications of the WPA. There are photographs of Dell, his family, George Cram Cook, Arthur Ficke, Joseph Freeman (including one by Tina Modotti), Marjorie Jones, Edna St. Vincent Millay, and Upton Sinclair
