"Women dream is an exploration of issues that I have thought about much of my adult life. My work is driven by common themes that are explored through a wide range of readings then given concrete form, usually as a book. Much of my reading has focused upon the similarities and differences between Judaism, Christianity and Islam with a current focus on gender. Although I have used Arab words, the text is a combination of my thoughts as well as Judeo-Christian and Muslim based verse and/or concepts ... The foundation for this book can be traced directly to Fatima Mernissi's Dreams of Trespass."--Colophon
Set of lidded nested boxes with collapsible walls connected by net fabric. Pages glued to both surfaces of box sides. The smallest box holds a feather. Letterpress printed from photopolymer plates. The typefaces used include Legend with Matrix Book and Script Book printed in three colors on top of printed pattern paper created by the artist
This work examines visible and invisible gender boundaries as expressed in Judeo-Christian and Muslim constructs. When lids are removed from boxes additional text is revealed and the walls fall down
