Voces de España : antologia literaria

"Voces de España is a literary anthology geared toward students at the fifth-semester or higher level and will introduce them to the major writers and literary movements in Spain from the Middle Ages through the twenty-first century. Scholars increasingly view literature as one element of a larger cultural project that evolved throughout the history of Spain, and Voces de España addresses literature in relation to this development. Throughout history, the notion of what it means to be a Spaniard has been in flux, and national identity has always been at the core of social, political, intellectual, and cultural discussions in Spain. We believe that literature has contributed greatly to this ongoing national debate. Not only do literary works reflect the changing ideas and attitudes toward Spanish identity, they have also played a pivotal role in the creation and transformation of this identity. Thus, the role of literature in shaping the nation is at the center of Voces de España."--Page x
