IMRU Radio sound recordings and administrative records, 1970-2011
This collection comprises sound recordings, production files, administrative records, banners, and other material, 1970-2011, from IMRU Radio, an LGBT radio program airing on KPFK Pacifica Radio in Los Angeles. The bulk of the collection is sound recordings on open reel audiotape. The collection also includes audiocassettes, compact discs, and digital audio tape (DAT) cassettes. The sound recordings include full episodes, feature segments, news segments, promotional segments, airchecks, outtakes, and other elements used in the production of IMRU episodes. Sound recordings also include LGBT-related productions of shows that aired on KPFK, such as This Way Out and Radio GLLU (Gay and Lesbian Latinos Unidos). The production files include log sheets, transcripts, resource material, and other documents used in the research and production of IMRU segments, such as featured stories and the Community Calendar segment. The general administrative records include bylaws, minutes, correspondence, program schedule flyers, and other material for the on-going operations of IMRU Radio. In particular, the administrative records document the early years (1970s) of IMRU when it was operated by the all-volunteer Gay Radio Collective
