North Carolina healthcare safety net task force report : April 2005

Safety net organizations have a mission, sometimes a legal mandate, to offer healthcare services to patients regardless of their ability to pay. Approximately 1.4 million people in North Carolina under the age of 65, are uninsured. Only 25% of the uninsured in this state, however, receive primary care through one of these safety net organizations. Appendix A (p. 109-141) lists the Healthcare Safety Net organizations in North Carolina
