The first series, titled Documentation of Georgia Prison Conditions, includes reports and correspondence taken from Georgia prison records. The second series, Georgia Nigger, contains Spivak's notes, drafts, and prepublication materials associated with the publication of the book in 1932. The final series, Reaction to Georgia Nigger, is made up of press releases, book reviews, newspaper articles, correspondence, and lecture notes that demonstrate how the book was received in the United States and abroad
