Understanding and addressing domestic violence in the workplace
In recent years, numerous employers and advocacy organizations have explored the issue of domestic violence and its impact on, and implications for, the American workplace. A number of promising strategies and interventions have been developed and implemented, in particular around providing resources and support to employees who are victims of domestic violence. The purpose of this article is to briefly describe the impact of domestic violence on the workplace, outline a theatre-based training approach to educating employers and employees about the issue, and acknowledge the complexity and difficulties of addressing domestic violence in the workplace, especially the question of how to best deal with employees who may be perpetrators of domestic violence
