Abstract:
Presents a clear and informative picture of Judaism's influence upon early Christian literature, thought and practice. This is done in three main sections of the book: the challenge to understand, the central emphasis of Judaism, and the life and teaching of Jesus. Centuries of bitter prejudices and dogmatic preconceptions have combined to dim the view and understanding of Christianity's debt to Judaism. The author holds that until the Christian can feel the pulse of Judaism in its historic perspective through sacred literature, liturgy and worship, Biblical studies will be misdirected.
