Abstract:
Saying he is indebted to Frau von Goethe for inducing Bauernfeld to send his "höchst erfreulichen Schreiben," thanking him for the poem, saying he is not sure whether they are in agreement on ideas for an opera text, emphasizing that he does not want a "Zauber-Oper," asking that if Bauernfeld recalls ("vorschwebt") a serious historical subject, or one with intrigue, "oder ganz heiterer menschlicher Stoff," to send it to Mendelssohn, expressing the hope that Bauernfeld might have another text to submit, etc.
