Abstract:

83 letters, postcards, and telegrams were discovered in the early 1990s, written by Philip (Flip) Slier (1923-1943) to his parents in Amsterdam. He was interned in Molengoot (in the province of Overijssel) between March-October 1942; from there, together with 5,000 other men, he was sent to Westerbork. Slier attempted to escape, but was caught and sent to Vught, and from there back to Westerbork. In April 1943 he was deported to Sobibor and gassed. Pp. 7-14 contain an introduction by Elma Verhey.
