You hold in your hands a marker for the beginning of the "Black Women Are For Grown Ups" (BWAFGU) campaign. This small paperback booklet contains a collection of both intimate and public writings by author Stevona Elem-Rogers, centered on Black womanhood. It is a personal look into her journey around the very nature of race and womanhood itself. This book features work from 2013-2016, the years leading to the campaigns launch. you will find vibrant full color visuals, original poems, journal entries, first-person narrative essays, and a timeless intergenerational interview with her grandmother. The southern, Black woman vernacular jumps off the pages as the consistent themes of womanism, freedom, and growth are explored. Written with raw vulnerability, the BWAFGU. Chapbook serves as a reminder of the interconnectedness of Black women.
