Summary:	The collection consists of the papers of Carol Ann Duffy and includes personal papers, writings, printed material, and audiovisual material documenting Duffy's life and career as a poet and playwright. The personal papers series contains correspondence, legal contracts, an honorary diploma from the University of Keele, and a small number of photographs. Correspondence primarily includes letters of a personal nature from friends, correspondence with publishers and editors, invitations to appear at readings and book festivals, and letters from fans. Frequent personal correspondents include Irish poet Dennis O'Driscoll and English poet Anthony Thwaite, and there is a large amount of correspondence from 2009 congratulating Duffy on her selection as Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom. Duffy's writings include draft material, page proofs, and illustrations from Duffy's poetry collections and children's books, along with plays and musicals she helped create. Also present are uncollected and unpublished poems; notebooks that contain poem drafts; play scripts; and poetry, prefaces, and introductions contributed by Duffy to other works. The writings series also includes a small collection of works by other poets and authors, such as Duffy's collaborator the Welsh poet Gillian Clarke, and Blackbird Singing, a manuscript of Paul McCartney's poems. The printed material series contains promotional material relating to her writings and edited collections, fliers and handbills for appearances and readings, clippings, and copies of magazines and catalogs in which her work appeared. Audiovisual material contains rehearsal and commercial recordings of Duffy's work and born digital material includes photographs and a PowerPoint template that uses illustartaions from The Princess's Blankets.  Read more...
