Abstract:

Oliver Twist: After escaping from a life of poverty and abuse that begins in a workhouse and making his way to London, orphaned Oliver Twist is recruited into a gang of young pickpockets, from which he is rescued by the elderly Mr. Brownlow.

The old curiosity shop: Follows the fortunes of young Nell Trent and her maternal grandfather, who gambles away what money they have in a mistaken attempt to secure Nell's future.

Bleak House: A complex tale that centers on the life of Esther Summerson, the illegitimate daughter of Lady Honoria Dedlock, and wills which have long been at issue in England's Court of Chancery.

Little Dorritt: Centers on the life of Amy Dorritt, the youngest of three children who grow up in the debtors' prison where their father is incarcerated until it is discovered that he is the heir to a large fortune.

Great expectations: An orphaned boy named Pip becomes the recipient of financial support from a criminal whom he was forced to help escape when only seven.
