Abstract:

Collection of maps primarily showing details of the Riley Estate subdivision, with measured land allotments, landowner names, major road and laneways and some land features. The estate was owned by Edward Riley, a merchant and pastoralist. Riley had bought several land parcels and, following his death in 1825, left behind two conflicting wills, with led to years of litigation amongst his seven heirs. The estate was eventually subdivided into seven parcels of equal value and raffled amongst the heirs, following government intervention. The collection also includes one map of land allotments in Keelbundora, Victoria.
