Commonplace book kept by Charles Baldwyn of Drayton Beauchamp, Nr Tring, Herts. beginning on Feb. 19, 1802 ending Nov. 17, 1802, with a copy of Swift's "The grand question debated whether Hamilton's Bawn should be turned into a barrack or a Malthouse" with annotations. Also included are 4 ballads, the first, "Pretty Bessee," has 65 stanzas; the second, "Lady Bothwell's Lament," is written using Scots dialect, with a lullaby refrain.
