摘要:

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to complete a community risk assessment of the 90032 community using the Communities That Care model. Twenty-eight indicators, taken from multiple sources, were used to evaluate 13 risk factors associated with school dropout and 12 risk factors associated with teen pregnancy. The most prominent risk factors identified for the 90032 community were extreme economic deprivation, family history of the problem behavior, family management problems, academic failure beginning in late elementary school, lack of commitment to school, friends who engage in the problem behavior and early initiation of the problem behavior. Thus, it would be most beneficial for this community to use a comprehensive approach to reduce the most salient risk factors in each of the domains that are linked to school dropout and teen pregnancy. Suggestions for empirically-supported prevention programs, which may prove useful for 90032, are made. Implications for social work practice and future directions for research are discussed.
