Abstract:

Abstract: Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is primarily to correct coronary artery disease with the use of a cardiopulmonary bypass machine. It associates with high rate of post operational complications, including cognitive function change. CABG without bypass machine, that is surgeons operating on a beating heart, is merged to solve this problem. This project was to educate the graduate Nurse Practitioner students, the future primary health care providers, on the differences of these two operations, complications, and especially cognitive function change associated with these two operations, as well as the assessment of cognitive function change in clinical settings. The baseline knowledge level and evaluation of educational effectiveness were assessed using pre- and posttest. The knowledge level was found to be improved at a statistically significant level after the education, and recommendations were identified for future planning.
