Abstract:

The Courtauld Gallery holds the most important collection of works by Paul Cezanne in Britain. Largely assembled in the 1920s and 1930s by the pioneering collector Samuel Courtauld. This book catalogues the entire collection for the first time and presents new art historical and technical research. The volume also includes reproductions and translations of The Courtauld's collection of nine letters by Cezanne. Written at the end of his life, these important letters capture Cezanne reflecting upon his unique artistic vision.
