Abstract:

"Christmas, more than any other season, belongs to children and animals. At no time of the year is the affinity between the two more pronounced. It is not difficult for imaginative children to see the Christmas Eve story as a tale of here and now, rather than a tale of long ago. Accompanied by beloved animal friend, such children can easily find themselves (as they do in this book), at Christmas time, in a certain stable where both they and the animals become part of the bustle and activity that herald the wondrous event soon to take place. And, as each gives more than a little of himself in preparing the stable, the true meaning of Christmas is made clear."
