Notes: | Another edition was "printed for D. Ogilvie and Son, booksellers, Holborn, London" with the same setting of type and added engraved title pages, differences being the imprints on both engraved and volume title pages. Copies with volumes of both the Perth and London imprints are not uncommon. Plays with an introduction by Samuel Johnson and George Steevens. Plays are signed and paginated separately. Added engraved title pages read: "The plays of Shakespeare from the most correct editions"; some volumes with the Perth imprint, some with the 1798 imprint of "D. Ogilvie & Son, Holborn, London." Engraved frontispiece in v. 1 lettered: D.B. Pyet sct., dated 1797. Some plays with engravings, which are alternately lettered by artists: G. Sanders, C.R. Ryley, Thurston; and by engravers: D. Somerville, I. Widnell, J.A. Kidd.; some published by Ogilvy & Son, some by Morrison & Son. With the Life, &c. of Shakespeare by Nicholas Rowe in v. 1. Errata in v. 7. |
