Summary:
The opera 'Die Affäre' and the dance drama 'J'accuse' were premiered in Germany in 1994. Both deal with the Dreyfus affair and were written by George Whyte. In 1894,Alfred Dreyfus, a young French officer and Jew was sentenced to lifelong imprisonment and public degradation. He was accused of giving away military secrets to Germany. The Dreyfus affair became a symbol of racism.
