Abstract:

"E-commerce is changing the ways in which firms do business, and it can increase their sales and market share while reducing the time and effort required to complete transactions. For Canada's small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which represented 99.7% of the country's employer firms in December 2015, e-commerce platforms - information technology systems that enable Internet-based business transactions - provide access to the trillions of dollars annually that are associated with the global online marketplace"--Introd., p. 5.
